Jack Dawson College Scholarship
WEST VALLEY EAGLES TRACK CLUB, INC. “JACK DAWSON" COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Multiple scholarships will be awarded by the West Valley Eagles to eligible High School seniors who have been West Valley Eagles Track Club participants. The awards are not based on need but on athletic and academic merit. The stipend is intended for college related expenses (i.e. tuition, room & board, books, etc.). The WVE Scholarship Committee will have sole responsibility for choosing the recipients.

Applications must be received before May 1st in order to be evaluated and award selected winners. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the West Valley Eagles’ season ending “Awards Picnic”. Date TBD.
Jack Dawson Scholarship Fund Mission Statement
The Jack Dawson Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 to honor Jack Dawson for his then 30 years of service, along with his continuing dedication and leadership to the West Valley Eagles Track Club. During his 40+ year tenure he helped build the club into a conference and national championship team winning numerous titles and contributing to the development of several Olympic Champions.
The WVE Club has established a College Scholarship Fund to reward past Eagle athletes who are current graduating high school Seniors. The athletes earn the scholarship through demonstrated athletic excellence, academic excellence, and a desire to continue their running career at the collegiate level. They must also have demonstrated high personal character and leadership traits accompanied by good citizenship with both the Eagles and the community.
IN SHORT: they must be GOOD AMBASSADORS for the West Valley Eagles and an INSPIRATION to the current younger West Valley Eagles athletes to reach for excellence in their life and continuing athletic careers.
Jack Dawson Scholarship Fund Objective
Candidates must be graduating high school Seniors that have applied to enter college and have demonstrated high moral character and leadership.
Athletic performance is the primary selection criteria beginning with their Eagles career and to a lesser extent (but still very important) their high school career. We hope the candidates had the opportunity to compete at the State and National levels. Financial need is NOT a factor and will not be considered.
This award is an athletic scholarship honoring Jack’s contribution to the development of Eagles excellence and hopefully an incentive to continue the Eagle tradition.
